Really old shot, amung my first after the purchasse of my EF when I got back into phoptography

I would center the sword and try to get better DOF either by walking away and using a telephoto or by using a lower F stop.

I did center the sword and I didn't like it. I shot this way back just after a ten year hiatus and DoF was one thing I was not too worried about at thiat point in time.

It's safe to assume it was intended as shallower given the railroad track is an intruding element in the photo as well as the telephoto reference. I've found my telephotos give a shallower DoF under these shooting conditions.

Then again the statement of "using a lower F stop" contradicts tha entirely but.....


Maybe he was asking for both....?
