Working for David's Bridal

I saw an ad in Professional Photographer for David's Bridal's wedding photography. They are hiring photographers apparently. I'm wanting to expand into weddings and thought maybe this might a place to start for a wedding or three to see how it goes and what's involved. Anyone ever work for them directly like this before? If so, what's the deal?

They approached me last year. You have to have an established business already and must pass a wedding portfolio review ( aka, you need to have already photographed weddings). The pay was not worth the "sales and marketing" they offered.

If you want to shoot weddings and are already an established photographer, the best way to learn is to second shoot with colleagues. Your local PPA chapter is a good resource for this.

if you are just starting out in photography, look for jobs as an assistant.

Interesting. I have never heard of that before. What do you mean the pay is not worth the sales and marketing they offered? So they pay you a certain amount per wedding, but absorb all of the other costs?
