On a recent flight I sat next to the guy who manages Hubble. He told me the coatings on L series lenses are so ground breaking that an astronomer made a telescope out of an array of 25 of them. He said the results were world class and that it was discovering galaxies that had not been detected before. I have a three L lenses and now I have one more way to justify them!

Fascinating. It has 48 lenses now, and they want 480 of them!

OMG! Almost fell out of my chair at the cost of that crazy set up. I'd be satisfied with one as well.

Have to applaud their effort. The results are amazing.

Very interesting, I like the application of "commercial" technologies to telescopes.

So this means bulk sales of 400mm f2.8 to astronomers and thus lower prices!!

Really neat design and setup and surprising too, but then again I guess it likely is cheaper than getting custom made setup for the same performance!
