My grandfather recently just gave me his old Yashica A and he never used it so it's in fair condition. It works except the aperture blades are stuck and it's pretty filthy.

I Was wondering if maybe that's not that big of a deal that I could fix it myself or if I should just bring it to a shop.

I wouldn't risk it, myself, especially if you're not experienced in this sort of thing. You might end up making the problem worse.

Ex: I recently had my Rolleicord repaired because it didn't focus properly. The repairman - who looked curiously as though someone had cloned Orson Scott Card and Richard Curtis and created a new person using each DNA, now that I think about it - speculated that someone had opened it up to fix something, but had ended up making it worse. Then sold it on eBay.
