Hello all,

I have one of these lenses and have used it for about a week and to be honest I am not really satisfied with it, its my first telephoto, i bought it for things like animals at the zoo and animals around the wildlife viewing areas and after a week of shooting to me the images just dont seem as sharp as i expected them to be.

i mainly use it off the tripod (manfrotto 055xprob) with the is off and just about every image i crop just isnt really as sharp.

any one have any advice ? i would like to sell it and put the money tword a 70-200mm f4L usm is lens, your thoughts on that ?

Had one for a year, sold it, got a 70-200 f/4 non IS, have never looked back.

Pros-300mm, IS.
cons-front element rotates, not sharp between 200 and 300, AF not fast enough or as accurate as the L, not fast enough after 200.

A good beginner lens and it served it's purpose for the time I had it, but the 70-200 non IS cost about the same and for me I have not missed the IS.

iam looking into the same lense, only with is lol... but ya i feel the same way you do
