Your thoughts on the 580EX

I haven’t posted in a while, but I thought I should get some advice on a potential purchase. Currently I use a 430EX II with my 7D and while I have been wanting to upgrade to a 600EX or 580EX II, I came across the opportunity to purchase a 580EX for $150. Im thinking I should jump on it, even though it is a little older and perhaps not as feature rich as the 580 II or 600???

I haven't owned the older version, personally. That's all I could find on it.

I know some people who prefer the older version of the 580EX, over the new one.

$150 sounds like a good price to me.

Sounds like a good price. I Would jump on it. Worse case scenario is you post it on eBay for sale and get your money back. There are a lot of people that prefer the older model 580 ex because of the master/slave switch on it.

I personally have a 580ex II that I use and it's great.

The 580ex is still a nice flash though. You will be happy with it.

Thanks for the input guys! I think Im going to pick it up after work. For $150, its hard to pass up.
