hi, im new to photography and this may be a foolish question but if you have two zoom lenses starting at 18 mm with different ranges do you get the same outcome at the same zoom. for instances:

will you get the same shot with these two lenses at 18mm

[h=1]AF-S DX NIKKOR
18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR[/h][h=1]AF-S DX NIKKOR
18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR[/h]or is there some compromise when buying a lens with a bigger range.

i just noticed some photographers having a 18-105 and then a 18-300 or a 18-200. if you had the 18-300 wouldn't it defeat the purpose of the 18-200 ect?

any information is much appreciated.

Thanks

Yes.

Yes, but the longer the zoom range the greater the potential for image quality issues like distortion.

Less than 10x zoom generally will deliver better image quality than 10x+ zoom.
