Zoom stuck on 580exll with MiniTT! and FlexTT5 - Help

I just purchased a MiniTT1 and 2 FlexTT5 and am testing them in different situations using my 580ex ll flashes.

One thing I've noticed is that the zoom won't work on the flash bodies and they both sit on 70mm when I'm using them; I'm using a 5d mkll with a 24-70 lens and when I shoot at 24mm they won't adjust.

Has anyone else had a similar situation and could relay their experience / solution to me.

Welcome to the forum.

As far as I know, the flash will only zoom to match the lens, when it's on the camera. It does it while on the camera so that the flash spread matches the the field of view of the lens. There is no point in the flash matching the zoom of the lens when it's off-camera.

You can manually set the flash zoom, thus controlling the spread and effective power/distance of the light.

Great point Big Mike, and one that I didn't take into account. This makes perfect sense to why its not moving, it's staying at the last setting it was on from the camera.
