The Great Pepper Debate of 2007
So, your 5 year old comes home with a note that says they are making a stew in class and that he has volunteered to bring in "red pepper". Would you send red pepper the vegetable or red pepper the spice? My mother and I had a friendly debate about this issue today

I purchased both just in case

I would bring the spice, and I on your side or your mom's side? :P
If I had a website like everyone else, this is where the link would be.

Well, my Mom said the teacher must have meant the vegetable because the spices would be too much for a class of 5 year olds. I told her the soup would be bland without it and red pepper would just get all mushy so I sent the spice

You should have sent some of this. Though they might have called the cops on you. Or Homeland Security.

not to be picky but... oh wait... I'm just doing this to be picky...
The Chili Pepper is the fruit of the plant Capsicum from the nightshade family, Solanaceae. The family includes the Bell Pepper, Jalepeno, Cayenne, Scotch Bonnet, etc.
Red Pepper Flakes are made from dried (usually Cayenne) peppers...
So, really they're the same thing.
You would think a teacher would be more precise.
