Up here in the the Great White North, (Minnesota) there's a town called Monticello. In this town, there's a woman who has done quite a bit to help out the Trumpeter Swan population. From Dec to March, she helps feed the 1000 - 1200 swans that stay the winter. When she started doing this 21 years ago, there were about 20 pairs. There is a power plant upstream from her (Sheila's) house, and when the temps dip below zero F, steam rises up from the river making for some very dramatic scenes. Here are a few shots from Monitcello, Mn. over the last couple of years. an old shot from the pbase account Sheila with some of the kids. Thanks for looking.
