Just a note:

Henry Horenstein's book, Black & White Photography, A Basic Manual, is being offered by Edward R. Hamilton, Bookseller for $9.95 [originally $27.95].

I got mine through a random used-book seller at Amazon. It was listed as "well-used condition" and I prepared for the worst, but it turned out to be in fine shape for five bucks.

I recommend both of his B&W books, as well as trying the used-book route at Amazon. Great deals to be had.

I got mine through amazon used as well, for around $3-$5. It is indeed a great book. I have his book on color photography as well.

I bought it for $27.95 some years ago, and liked it so much that reading about other people's latter-day bargains bothers me not a whit. On the other hand, my thrift-store-haunting girlfriend found his volume on color photography for a buck-fifty at a church resale shop. Both are great sources of always relevant data.

I paid cover price for all three books: 2 BW and 1 color. Well worth it. I see the BW books in my local used book store going for $5 or $6 several times a year. When I was teaching BW photography I'd pick them up for my students.

It looks like it might be a great book!! I am very interested in B&W photography. It sounds from what I have been reading, this is probably the book to get.
