I got a great(?) deal on a Sunpak MZ440AF-CA Flash "Auto focus for Canon"

What I am wondering is if it will work as expected on my Canon AE-1 Program. Teh instructions are not really clear but seem to imply that it was designed to work with an autofocus camera and may determine output based on focus point... but thats a guess. Since my camera can't report focus distance to it will it just fire at full power all the time?

Am I better off looking for an older flash that was designed with the AE-1 in mind?

this probably should have been posted in the equipment section. Sorry guys.

It should work, but I don't think the TTL metering will work. If that's the case, you would just have to use the flash in an auto, or manual mode...and match the settings on the camera & flash.

I don't know what the trigger voltage was on those old AE-1 cameras...but my guess is that they are pretty tough.
