Hi all

Im torn between the 350d and 400d as they both have what I need to make large prints (upto 20"x30"), but there are a couple of issues that is making the final decition hard.

1. The 350 doesnt have a self cleaning sensor unit, is this something I should avoid?

2. The 400 has 10mp which sounds great but Ive heard that because it uses the same size sensor as the 350, it has to squeeze more into the image which reduces the quality due to noise, is this true?

This will be my first dslr, which one would you go for??

Welcome to the forum.

The self cleaning sensor is a nice feature...but not worth a lot of extra money IMO. I've only had to lightly clean the sensor in my camera in the last two years.

If large prints are your goal...then more pixels will probably be beneficial....but going from 8 to 10 isn't a huge step up really. I haven't compared the two, as far as image quality. You could probably find a review or comparison on-line somewhere. Typically, more pixels squeezed into a sensor does mean more noise...but there are other factors as well.
