Canon vs Nikon original file DPI?

My 10d and Digital Rebel's files are 180 dpi straight from the camera. My friend has a D50 and her files are 300dpi native from the camera. If both cameras are 6.3 mp, why are her files at a higher dpi? Will her prints look better than mine because of the higher resolution?
