I wonder if there's any benefit to do a controlled burn on one for Fire Department practice / training.

On, no. 100% goes to recyclers. They melt everything down. And you get a print out of all materials by weight. Then they give you the money minus their fee for separating / smelting. Mostly aluminum, but also silver, gold, palladium, platinum, and other metals.
