We were at the edge of the eclipse field, so no ring of fire, but this was my view. ND400 was not dark enough to capture the eclipse directly, and I value my eyes (and camera), but I love how the pattern comes through the leaves of the trees.

I did this trick once, some years back - it really works great!

Thanks! Yep, I discovered this anomaly a few years back as well. Why look at a single eclipse, when you can look at multiple eclipse at the same time?
 
Watch for wave shadows during the total solar eclipse next April. We saw them in 2017 at Grand Teton NP. Really interesting.
