European starling all puffed up to keep out the cold wind and sleet although we have had a bit of a melt today.
Under-rated bird often regarded as a pest as they descend in packs and clear the bird tables. The patterns they make in the evening sky when there are large numbers coming in to roost are amazing. In sunlight the iridescent colours in the feathers can be quite attractive. They also are first to use and make a good job of emptying the bird bath.
