I have maintained some networking systems that don't have 10TB in any one storage area, thats just a whole lot of space, and if used for one thing, it's a whole lot to lose.

Sure, if you want to keep every photo you have ever taken since childhood, then that would work, but other then that it's a bit much.
 
I would still go for it though, given the opportunity (and money, lol).

With that much space, there's gotta be some back ups ;)

I have 5TB (usable) in a 4 bay RAID enclosure that I use exclusively for backups, 1TB for videos/music, 1TB as a DVR drive, then a few more for the rest. FWIW, I'm using 112GB for photos.

Yes, it's crazy to buy space you don't need, but as you need it, it's never very expensive to upgrade what you have. My 2TB drives cost me $150, and a 1TB drive is under $100 these days
