I don't know if the b&w works. It's hard to tell that it is a frozen lake even after seeing your title. Can we see the original?
 
For the first time in quite awhile I feel compelled to say something:

I like it b&w makes it look better good job :)

I like the B&W version better. The horizon does appear to be leaning to the left as evidenced in the vertical posts on the gazebo.

I was thinking that too, but I think it may be the gazebo itself that's leaning from the frozen water.
 
I like the B&W, but I think a tighter crop around the trees and gazebo would be better. Like a horizontal crop with mostly trees and gazebo.
 
Not very good. The "subject", which I assume is the building? competes with the background. And the frozen lake could be confused with concrete because the most important visual clue, blue color, is gone. Add to this the uninteresting foreground and empty sky, and I just don't see much here that is worthwhile.
