Large Milkweed Bug
Family: Lygaeidae (Seed Bugs)
Species: Oncopeltus fasciatus

I have probably about 30 or more of these between two of my milkweeds (my pink and white ones). Very, very active guys with some serious stamina...the two in the first shot were mating for a good 2-3 hours (my kind of bug ;))

are these with the 180 3.5? I cannot seem to get that close with my 105mm 2.8 micro. and i want to, cause your shots are ALWAYS great!

Some great shots Nate. 3 and 4 are my fav.

Thanks everybody. Yes these were with my Tamron 180mm and 1.4TC. I don't think you would have a hard time getting shots of these guys with a 105...they would probably crawl onto my camera if I let them....don't seem to be afraid that much at all unless they are doing it.....then they try to hide ironically.
