Photos NOT OK to edit
Shot this through a fence. The glowing hands are just the coloring of the statue as she was in full shade with no hot lights on her that would create this. No editing to brighten them at all. I now the focus (light) is usually on the face, but I thought the contrast of the bright hands and the face, being the blackest blacks of the shot, complimented nicely.

As always, comments welcome.

I like it, but then I photograph a lot of Mary statues.

Look at the image histogram. It falls short of reaching the right corner -- you have no highlights. Correcting that will enhance the effect you like and raise the image contrast which it needs.
