    heres my first picture that i took with the 400d messing around in my backyard with my car and the black and white photo style. is there any thing that i can improve on

    want to know a trick? Shoot in color and convert to B&W after the fact. You'll have MUCH more control on what it looks like that way. I hate it when people use the B&W filter on the Rebel's because they limit themselves so much and don't even realize it.

    I'm with Torus on this one...no subject makes for an empty photo.

    I agree also. There is a phone pole in the middle, but its way too hard to distinguish. The fence catches your eye, but doesnt lead you to any point or conclusion. Good urban scene none the less, just needs a focal point to draw it together.
