A lot of lenses actually move past infinity. Every one of mine does. I've heard people then ask, "But how can you focus past infinity??" Easy: you move the glass too close to the sensor! The maximum focus distance is not a physical limit on the lens, it's just the maximum distance it will actually focus on. Then it can move physically beyond that and go blurry again.
Basically, cranking the lens to the stop at infinity will probably NOT get good focus.
