The makers of the cold medicine I took claim this medicine is the 'non-drowsy daytime formula'.

Liars, the lot 'em!

.........wha? Uhhh . . . sorry, what was I saying? I fell asleep on my keyboard.

Drink more coffee ;)

Seriously back in the early nineties we had a brand that had a kind of "speed" to act against the drowsyness, and it worked very very well - to well in fact. However, the problem was that it started to be abused, and was therefore withdrawn from the market. These days I don't believe there is really a non drowsy cough medicine available now - at least in the UK.

I did end up drinking two decent sized cups of cappuccino. I don't drink actual coffee.

It might have helped some, but not much.

I'm STILL dragging bigtime, and it's been 4 1/2 hours since it was supposed to have worn off. I mean, I'm more awake than I was shortly after it hit, but still.

But . . . . I'm not coughing non-stop (still a bit, though), so that's good.
