Builders in them days were very keen. What a gorgeous building, you captured it well.

Hermann, the German name for Armenius, the liberator of Germany from the Romans, was founded by German immigrants from Pennsylvania. The main street is wider than the main street in Philadelphia, as they anticipated that Hermann would become a great metropolis in the wilderness of Missouri.

Didn't work out that way, but they did build an orderly community with wonderful people and architecture. It's now known for it's wineries, German restaurants, and very, very good wurst.

I'm told a local boy went to St. Louis, made it big, and donated a million dollars to restore this fine old building.

Beautiful old building and, like JC says, you gave us a very nice photo of it. Nothing compares to old architecture.
