hi, i need petal hood for this http://imaging.nikon.com/products/i...dx/af-s_dx_zoom18-55mmf_35-56g_ed_2/index.htm lens. any ideas which one to choose? does nikon also does them? i havent seen any petal hoods on their site.

A petal hood on a rotating focus element would be pretty pointless, yes, but you most certainly can use a CPL. Just set your focus first, set the CPL as desired, frame and capture. It's just takes a bit more effort, that's all.if you had a petal hood, it would never be lined up properly. if you're using a polarizing filter, well.. you can't.
Does the 18-55 VR have a bayonet mount? The older, non-VR version doesn't.Lens hoods are a product of function not fashion. The HB-45 is designed for that lens to provide the maximum benefits that a hood can for the lens. At $16.00 it is also pretty cheap for an OEM hood.
