Pics no longer sharpe when uploaded

Every time I post a pic from photobucket too the forum, it seems to lose a lot of sharpness.
Compared with other people's pics, that look as sharp as mine before upload.
Is there something simple I'm not doing right?

Try Flickr. Photobucket downgrades image quality fairly drastically.

A few thoughts:

1) The forum operates an automatic resizing code for any photo embedded into the site. This code also doesn't operate much of a sharpening code; as a result if photos are resized they of lose sharpness; you just hve to click the "show fullsize" bar to remove the filter and show at full size. You can also, in your user settings, specify the size limits the site is to work with - so you can tailor it to suit your viewing screen.

2) If you upload to the net I recommend to resize yourself to the size you want to display online; applying sharpening to the photo before and after resizing (resizing in itself saps sharpness). Most hosts only apply default amounts which might not suit all photos; so resize yourself so that you know its sharp.
