Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM Macro
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM II Macro

for budget minded amateur, or

Canon L lenses for Quality/aspiring pro oriented

Great picture gsgary! action is really coming at you! I would probably ran a little Gaussian blur on the grass that is in focus under the dog, sorry if C&C was not appropriate here :)

But then you wouldn't have seen the very small depth of field
 
Sorry guys I had a sigma 24-70/2.8 (not the 70-300) but pasted the wrong one in the post. I didn't get it deleted fast enough.

Here is the XSi kit that I was talking about. This ships and is sold from Amazon which many have purchased from before. I also think it might be cheaper to buy this compared to buying the XTi and 18-55 IS.
