Back in October we planted 20,000 cpurple crocus in our village as part of the Rotary celebration of over 25 years of supporting the erradication of Polio worldwide. When a child is given the vaccine a purple marker is put on their pinkie finger. I did an assembly at our village school and gave them 5000 corms to plant the rest going into village greens and verges. Below are some of the October planting pictures and the same sites today. I was lent a couple of the "planting" children for a few minutes at school before going in to photograph one of their class activities . . . a very noisy football target affair! Last year it was down to about a dozen new cases found in war zones.
