I encountered a rattlesnake while hiking. I was about two steps away from it and froze, it rattled at me, slithered across the hiking trail, stopped and rattled some more, and went on its way.

Good catch. Snakes don't usually bother me "unless" they surprise me then I'm likely to take on a mixture of ninja and wierd contortions moves as try to get away from it.
