SB-910, no LCD screen illumination

Using with a D600, G series lens. Everything works well. Batteries are fully charged. I can't get the LCD screen to illuminate.

When I illuminate the top LCD screen the buttons on the back of the Speedlight illuminate but that's it. I've gone through the owner's manual, the menus on the flash and the camera (I know, nothing there) and I can't get it to light up.

As well built as it is I can't believe that simple feature quit. Any help from the brain trust here is much appreciated.

If anyone's interested, I took to NSC in Signal Hill, Ca. Defective, no parts even if to wanted to fix it.

Dropped off my D600. Nothing for that either except clean, check all settings. Read obsolete.
