Shelby's Ghost

Hey little Cobra, don't you know you're gonna shut 'em down
I took my Cobra down to the track
Hitched to the back of my Cadillac
Everyone was there just a waiting for me
There were plenty of Stingrays and XKEs
Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
(Shut 'em down) Spring little Cobra now with all of your might
(Shut 'em down) Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
(Shut 'em down) Spring little Cobra now with all of your might
Hey little Cobra don't you know you're gonna shut 'em down
When the flag went down you could hear rubber burn
The Stingray had me going into the turn
I hung a big shift and I got into high
And when I flew by the Stingray I waved bye-bye
Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
(Shut 'em down) Spring little Cobra now with all of your might
(Shut 'em down) Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
(Shut 'em down) Spring little Cobra now with all of your might
Hey little Cobra don't you know you're gonna shut 'em down
Around the far turn in the straight-away
I was blowing off everything that got in my way
The Stingrays and Jags were so far behind
I took my Cobra out of gear and let it coast to the line
Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
(Shut 'em down) Spring little Cobra now with all of your might
(Shut 'em down) Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
(Shut 'em down) Spring little Cobra now with all of your might
Hey little Cobra don't you know you're gonna shut 'em down
Shut 'em down
Shut 'em down
Shut 'em down
Shut 'em down
Shut 'em down
Shut 'em down

The Rip Chords...

Loved the little AC-based 289 models and the Sunbeam Tiger--small-block V8s shoehorned into '60s British sports cars.

The 427 was a brute, though. Its DNA got spliced into Shelby's Viper.

Agree 100% !! If only the brand owned by Chrysler would have said OK to a ford engine it would have had a longer stay. I am told one of the reasons (of many) the little Tiger got the Ford mill was the distributor was on the rear of the engine. The hood (excuse me, "bonnet") would not close hitting the distributor. I was an Alpine owner who at the time as a young man couldn't afford the Tiger. I did have the chance to test drive one. Wow, What a kick!
Shoehorned? How about opening a small door under the dash between the pedals to get to the last sparkplug?? That's not cramped, it's clever engineering!
