So, After a few years and my shutter dies, is it possible to replace the shutter or do I have to buy a new body?

yes.... i heard somewhere it was around $200 maybe more....

entry level DSLR's are rated for 50 000 snaps

useless information below -

at 3 frame per second you could tape down the shutter release and blow up your new camera in about 4.6 hours

Considering the cost of the replacing the shutter, depending on what kind of camera you have, you might be better off just buying a new one.

Most SLR cameras (probaly most cameras period) have serviceable and replaceable shutters. You may be able to find a repair shop that could do it for you but it's probably best that a Canon Service Centre does it. Call Canon and they can probably quote you a price to replace the shutter.

Mine is fine, its just information for me for the future ;)
Thanks for the information!

Id replace my shutter if I really liked that particular body. Now if a sensor died that would be a diffrent story.
