Photos NOT OK to edit
I've been going out and shooting street a lot over my vacation. Here's some stuff I came up with.

Not bad at all. I think you can get more interesting shots though, be more daring.
I guess for streetphotography you have to be willing to sort of get into peoples faces and such.

I like the second and third images. They "say" more. The one lady looks tired, like she can't wait to get home after a hard days work. The other lady texting on the phone, oblivious to whats going on around her.

Second one's my favorite. I'd like to see it brightened up a bit though...

Thanks everybody!! There are some more on the way.

Here's an Update... About 7 more images.

We are all different, so my reaction to these tips is:

1,2 and 3 are useful advice
4 is plain wrong and contradicts no 7 and 6
5 yeah, right, also do not forget to brush your teeth...
6 really???
7 oh well, yes, and do not steal.
8 ok
9 depends on what your street photography is about
10 is it a Nike commercial?

Well, Actually you're right. If we consider the tip #4 then we should disregard both the 6th & 7th tip and vice versa.

They aren't bad tips for a beginner or even an intermediate street photographer (I would consider myself somewhere in-between) but they definitely are tips rather than end all be all rules. It helps to be kind and considerate most of the time on the street but when it really comes down to it you have to think more about the image you want to make than how that person will feel about you taking their photograph.

My biggest mistakes with street is that ... while the shot has meaning to *me* because I remember the mood & atmosphere, etc ... many times the photograph doesn't tell that story, and they devolve simply into pictures of strangers ... doing stuff (walking, going down escalators, looking out windows etc.)

Stuff that looks like genius to me ... just doesn't come across to someone who wasn't there. I've discovered that (for me at least) street photography is very difficult. I tend to be a very non-confrontational person, and while I've never been scolded or called out, I've gotten strange looks, and I'm going to need to thicken my skin if I'm going to develop in this.
