Anyone using it? It's new at Amazon for $580. I'm thinking of it as a walk-around lens for my D5000. The Nikon 18-200 is too much.

Thanks.

I've got the 18-270, I like it for a walk-around lens but I'm using my primes more lately and and wanting to get a 15-50mm 2.8 or something in that range. The image is good on the 18-270, but it's better in a lot of other lenses but that's to be expected.

All superzoom, walkaround lenses (10x+ zoom range) are jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none lenses that because of the design compromises a 10x+ zoom capability entails, trade convenience for image quality.

If mediocre image quality is less important to you than the convenience of not having to change lenses, then any of the superzoom lenses is the right choice for you.
