"The city of Duluth, MN is at the end of the Great Lakes. Ships enter the harbor, and are filled with taconite pellets, among other products, and are shipped worldwide for use in steel. This particular piece of equipment is used to empty trains bringing the taconite to the docks, and stockpiled until it's ready to be loaded onto ships. Thus the name, The Pile Maker."

i agree.
in the zoomed one, your eye follows the catwalks and stairs. i'm tempted to wonder what people's walking patterns are before looking at this photo in any other way. maybe if you got a slightly different angle of the thing, this could be more emphasized? one of the paths runs out of the shot and the base of the piler is confusing as to what's actually there.
kind of wish i could see some people walking around on the thing.

anyway, it's cool :thumbsup: very thought inspiring
