As to the question of "To Crop or Not To Crop" ... I say: yes. Crop.
If the flow of the branches and the art on the trunk is what you were going for in your photo, you need to take us close. More emphasis on said flow is required and more proximity to the bark.
And that cable is really really distracting and takes away from your motif.
So crop vertically and try to clone out that cable.
I do see that the clear blue sky was fascinating in itself and makes a wonderful backdrop to this tree but I feel you don't need as much of it as your photo is showing right now. You don't need all those little twigs, either.
A crop would give this tree three faces and some life, I think .
