That puppy shot is VERY nice,
the look in the eyes is just great, and the shot is very well framed.
I dont mind the dark shadows in the ferns, helps them fall to the background and focus you on the dog.

While the puppy photo was already really good (your own edition), I also very, very, very much like this new one! Lovely light, background (colourwise, heehee!!!), position of dog, ball under paw (a story here, again the title "Wanna play?" works!), compositionally enough room given for your dog to look into and also soon to run into (for this photo also has some tension and makes you wait for your dog to jump up and move!) ... so yes: very good photo.
