Waxings on the Wenatchee

while i was over in eastern Washington, shooting river rafters on the Wenatchee River, the waxwings were all over in the bushes along the river bank. this one gave me a prime photo op... 40D, 400mm, 1/500 @ f/8

cedar waxwings are one of my favorite birds to shoot. We usually get a wave of them early summer. You really got his colors well, only thing I miss is yellow bar on his tail, but then its not like you can control their pose.
 
Beautiful, I've never seen one here. Sort of a batman bird with the mask:wink:
 
I was lucky enough to see about 6 of waxwings at a nearby lake back in May. It was the first and only time I have ever seen these birds -and of course I didn't have a long enough lens to capture them. :(
