I'm just curious but also I noticed that head on the 45 in my school can tilt back and has an arm to prop it horizontally while the 45 that i bought for my home dark room has the ability to tilt back but not an arm to prop it up.

i have seen many and own several . the basic difference was the shifting of the braces from going forward to backwards allowing the use of larger easel on the baseboards.

there are some other changes from year to year, but basically the same strut is still in use; heads differ and the filter drawer changed.

i have never seen a 45 that didnt' have the brace your talking about, perhaps someone has removed it.
