If Your Phone Is So Good, Do You Still Need a 'Real' Camera?

I am not "stuck in the past." I am an antiquarian!

If Your Phone Is So Good, Do You Still Need a 'Real' Camera?

These hypotheticals are simply ludicrous! It is as if photographers are eagerly waiting to ditch their equipment in favor of any "simple" tool that "does everything" and will render their current cameras obsolete. These sort of articles are aimed at the common snapshooter folk who may perhaps...

Electrical Tape to Repair Bellows is an Abomination

Mulberry paper is incredibly strong and well suited for these sort of repairs. I use a medium weight Japanese Moriki paper, which is 90% kozo and it is fantastic to work with. I learned this from my days of repairing rare leather books, mostly for my own collection. I have many of them in my...

Electrical Tape to Repair Bellows is an Abomination

Absolutely disgusting. I marvel at the ignorance of the vulgar folk who resort to such crude measures. The camera is ruined after the tape is applied, that much is obvious. The chemicals on the tape will transfer to the original material and permanently destroy it, as it cannot be removed...

    I suck at photography.

Mr. Nerwin. You have many good photographs on your flicker blogger album. I liked a great many of them, especially the feline shots. Do not be so hard on yourself. Although this forum is infested with faux photographers who preach morals and discuss equipment minutia ad nauseum instead of...

I've had enough of you, Mr. Traveler. I will not stand to listen any further to your puritanical lectures and rigid definitions of "appropriateness" based on your personal beliefs and morals. In regard to "speaking plainly" and "acting your generation," let me assure you that I will not be...

Pardon me, but you as well as Mr. Traveler have given me undue hostility after I voiced my opinion on the quality of the photographic blog that was posted on this thread. After all, it is what the boy asked us to do when he started the thread and I obliged. You all have ridiculed my posts...

My honest and sincere opinion, after having examined the photographs on your website, is that you seem to overemphasize the "artistry" of the shots through various forms of saturation and lighting trickery instead of letting an image speak for itself with natural colors and lighting. I am not...

    Hello from Edmonton, AB

Greetings good sir! I humbly recommend you upgrade to this exquisite (and may I add, portable) Robinson camera. It is the perfect tool to take on your voyage to the "NHRA Toyota Nationals." The landscapes are fabulous.

how to get crazy up close macro photos

I use a wonderful brass botanical pocket microscope for my macro work. It is excellent for viewing insects and sketching them on paper for future reference.

I Need to Buy a Horrendous Camera.

Well, if you insist... Here is a lovely snapshot I took of some sailboats using very basic equipment. It has a bit of a postmodernistic twist to it. I dabbled in the modern style only to please a certain mistress. I find the whole idea quite dreadful.
