This old 1803 sawmill is near my home. I stopped in quickly to see what I could see. Powered by an extremely leaky loose stone dam and penstock, it is open for exhibit only, but has cut many board-feet in its time.
The first image is a view of the whole site. The dam and penstock are located behind the building and are not visible in the first shot. The second image is the lower wheel that powers the blades on the main floor. You can see the penstock protruding through the dam in the third shot.
My favorite is certainly the second image of the wheel and supports. I'll almost certainly be returning to try again after this brief preliminary visit. Very dreary day. I also plan on throwing on a ND filter and playing with the leaky dam. Thanks!
