33% viewing issue

When I view photos at 33% in CS2 the image looks terrible but at 50% or 25% it look good. Why does this happen?

Probably has something to do with the screen resolution and how PS is rendering it. I notice this with some things in windows explorer also.

I forget the explanation but it's very typical.

It's becuase photoshop uses two different algorithms for resizing, one for the normal 50%, 25%, and another for the in between numbers.

I just view at 25, 50, or 100% and that works out fine.

It's just the way ps resizes the preview. If you actually resize the photo to 33%, it will look better (in 100%) than it did before the resizing.

I found out from a designer friend that 33% does not display great because 33% is not a whole integer of 100% (33.33333333333) so PS cannot accurately reporduce images at that magnification level. Makes sense to me.
