I would disagree. This is a very good balance of light and dark. You can't push the highlights any further, so adding contrast would be adding black to the image which would dull the colours, the same with clarity or sharpening.
To edit this I would do the minimum in raw, and certainly avoid adding black through contrast and clarity. Then use adjustment layers with luminosity masks further separated into colour and luminosity blend modes. You could then bring up the colour contrast a little without adding too much shadow.
A little adjustment with colour match to lift the luminosity and colour intensity alone brings out a little more glow in the frescos. I would also neutralise the colour cast for the daylight which would bring more colour contrast. Show you the effects on the posted version if you'd like.
I think it's quite well handled.
