50 foot sculpture in the desert

OK so about 5Km into the desert near Zekreet in Qatar a famous sculptor created an installation :



The heat haze is not added.

Are you sure it is only 5 km from town?

Anyway, a photo of just one of the obelisks doesn't do much for me. I think it was meant to be viewed as a complete installation, so if you could photograph all four *things* in the same frame it might look better.

i haven't read about this yet. From the photo all I see is a big square stick In the ground. It may be very interesting but I think it needs to be shot or portrayed a little more accordingly.

I haven't seen much for work from Qatar. know little about it. Your photos could be very interesting.

Viewing as a whole is an issue as it is on a large scale.

Each block is about 100 yards apart and no high ground at either end.

Very fascinating. It has a simple and timeless feeling about it like the surrounding desert and cliffs. It reminds me of the movie, "2001-A Space Odyssey."

Not so deep. My impression of this installation is that the artist has defined an axis through the center of the gap in the plateau while maintaing a continuation of that plateau via the implied plane defined by the tops of the obelisks.
