Dave Hill's effect cannot be achieved in post processing because much of it depends on superb lighting. In many cases he also lights subjects seperately and composites them onto the background. Obviously there is a lot of post processing as well, but you won't even come close to his shots if you don't have the lighting down to start off with. His work is awesome though and very cinematic indeed.
