The sky looks absolutely horribly posterized on the right hand photo...the image has been pushed too far in post processing. The image on the left looks just "posterized" on the sky, and not horribly posterized. Perhaps using a polarizing filter over the lens when shooting these types of photos would be a better approach to getting dark,dramatic skies.

I don't know why they show up like that on the uploaded pictures but on my Mac computer in Lightroom they look great, ......................I used a GND lee filter to take the pictures

They probably look like that after the jpg conversion and upload. They look good.
