You are so right! They take on a completely different look up close.

Thank you, Donde! These are 2 different creatures, but both appear to be in the wasp family. This is just a layman's comment though. Hopefully we have some entomologists in our midst

These flowers attract many types insects. At any one time, there has been easily a dozen varieties.
