I think the first photo could have been a really good "people" photo. If you walk around the lake closer to the dock, that person overlooking the lake would be a very nice shot capturing him thinking/reflecting/fishing...whatever he's doing.

not sure i wold have had enough zoom for something like that was using the new 18-35mm 1.8 lens. plus people photography is not something that really interest me all that much for some reason.
