i recon you should crop out the stumps in the first one. as for the second i can see the halo effect and i am not a fan of it

I like the first one, the guy looks like a samurai on vacation. The stumps are fine, actually it makes the picture to me. (Probably the guy have cut these trees with his sword ) But what about the upper right corner?? It is distracting. The horizon is a little bit tilted AFACS.
Second one - mmm.. it is a half-baked shot about nothing to be honest: tilted horizon, harch contrast, lines do not play into the composition here, there is no balance in composition, the subject is not interesting. I am not a fan of it either.

Thanks guys, Ill keep that in mind, the second one was more of an experiment and my girlfriend liked the way it turned out so I kept it. As for the first I also like the stump so I dont want it cropped out but I do see the glare in the upper right corner which annoys me as well. Thanks for the insight though.
